About us
Delve into our history.
Steeped in centuries of heritage and surrounded by the charm of one of South Yorkshire’s most picturesque villages, Hooton Pagnell Hall is a place where history and romance come together beautifully.
Dating back to the 14th century and lovingly preserved through generations, the Hall has long been a home filled with warmth, celebration and unforgettable moments. Its elegant Georgian architecture, original character and peaceful gardens provide a setting that feels both timeless and wonderfully intimate.
Origins.
The first mention of the property was in the Domesday Book in 1086 and the first known owner was Sir Ralph de Paganell, a Norman knight.
Hooton Pagnell Hall has been in the Warde-Norbury family for over 320 years and gracefully passed through the generations peacefully. The first owner was Sir Patience Warde, then the Lord Mayor of London and the present owners’ Great Grandmother was Julia Warde-Aldam, who built the west wing in the latter part of the 19th century. This is now the location of our beautiful Boutique Accommodation.
During the First World War, Julia offered the house to the British Government to be used as a hospital and set about running the hospital herself. Julia was awarded an MBE for services during the war and the main house retains the same elegant character as it did in 1884.
A place where memories are made and treasured for generations to come.
Today, while embracing modern comforts and refined luxury, Hooton Pagnell Hall remains true to its rich heritage. Every room, every view and every carefully restored detail tells a story, creating an atmosphere that is both grand and welcoming.
